Nailsworth and Stroud are close by and offer a variety of unusual
shops and famous farmers' markets, while Cirencester with a good
selection of high street shops is 10 miles away and it is only
16 miles to Cheltenham with its famous racecourse. Other attractions
in our area include: Tetbury with its antique shops, Westonbirt
Arboretum,
Badminton, Woodchester Mansion and National Trust woodland.
Our town is very favourably situated for a variety of leisure
pursuits: apart from walking on Minchinhampton, Rodborough and
Burleigh common land, which overlook the famous Golden Valley,
there are two golf courses - the 18 hole Old Course on the common
and the New Course with 36 holes! The Gatcombe Estate is just around
the comer for those wishing to attend the equestrian events; in
addition there are the polo grounds of Cirencester Park, Beaufort
Club and Aston Down.
